Background
Being outside of fire protection, we must be hypervigilant during storms. Our wildfire response team is working to adopt a tactic used by other teams. The Lightning Watch!
Having faced evacuation in 2017 (Elephant Hill) and 2021 (Sparks Lake), the community takes any potential for wildfire very seriously. We need to plan for the contingencies and hope for a year with no local wildfires. Development of our own Lightning Watch is a solid step towards helping keep our community safe.

Impact
Currently, as our residents travel back and forth to Kamloops, we do our best to steward the environment we drive.
A few of us have even been known to stop and extinguish campfires left by errant campers!
